Every writer, at some moment, offers a secret prayer to the muse. That invisible energy, sometimes soft as a breeze, sometimes wild as a storm, that guides the pen and ignites the soul. But what exactly is the muse?
Is she a ghost from a another time? A glimmer of memory? Or perhaps she reflects our darkest fears and quietest dreams. The muse isn't always generous. She appears whenever she wants, frequently unannounced, and rarely stays long. However, in those fleeting moments, she pours life into words, turns quiet into poetry, and shapes the formless.
For some people, the muse appears in dreams. Others find peace in heartbreak, nature, or the pause between two thoughts. She has several faces. To summon her is not to demand, but rather to wait with open hands and a willing heart. Some days, she hides behind clouds of self-doubt or under the weight of the commonplace. On other days, she dances brazenly in the sunshine, inspiring you to write freely.
But here's a secret: she prefers the persistent.
She praises those that show up, write when it's difficult, revise until it hurts, and brave to spill the truth on the page. The muse, however strange she may be, enjoys discipline as much as inspiration.
So, light a candle. Create a blank page. Begin even in quiet. You never know—she might simply be watching, waiting for you to believe again.
